Timeless History Channel
Канада
Добавлен 7 дек 2017
Hey folks, welcome to the Timeless History Channel. My name is Deric, aka Sao, the Omega Enthusiast. I grew up in Ontario, Canada, and have been collecting and selling vintage timepieces since the early 2000s. I am a full-time watchmaker and run a website selling vintage watches; mainly Omega watches between the 1920s to 1970s. I created this channel in 2017 precisely because I wanted to start an online database linking to my website. In mid-2020, I decided to get serious and have been producing videos for the channel almost weekly. My videos are educational and will teach you a bunch about vintage watches. Watch a few of my videos and if you find them very helpful, kindly share them, hit on that like button, and don't forget to subscribe. Thank you for passing by.
Watch Review Part 2 - Recommended vintage watch brands for a watch enthusiast ~ 1930s to 1960s

Hi everyone, and welcome to the Timeless History Channel with me, Deric, aka Sao, the Omega Enthusiast. Many watch enthusiasts new to the hobby usually need help determining what to collect. I always tell people to collect what they like and focus on the overall condition rather than the brand. An excellent wristwatch is not a beat-up, poorly aged Rolex but a clean timepiece of any brand. In this episode, I will share ten vintage watches I recommend.

8 Types of Watches For You To Buy in 2023 ~ Let's learn about their Pros and Cons
The er re thing is very useful.
Great video. I would just like to ask if the Universal Geneve watch is missing a screw? I see there is one which I think holds the movement and next to it, a hole where a screw seems to be. Thanks.
Yes, I have bought from amzwatch more than once. I even bought a new Omega Speedmaster which came with the fancy box and packaging. I am thrilled with all my purchases here. I would purchase from amzwatch again for sure.
Not one, I like them all! 🤩
Good , bro has a entire omega showroom
I need a masters degree in Vintage watches. I know nothing. However, that said, i buy off of a trusted watchmaker.
Awesome video and superb recommendations! Love the Walkman. Video Topic :I think you’re one of the only people who may be able to do a video and have the experience on the topic, so I offer the idea to you: Vintage Omega bracelets(/buckles) . Case model to bracelet/end link, what things to look out for, drawbacks to certain bracelets ect, who were bracelet manufactures contracted, If current market prices are reasonable for these bracelets, and possible alternatives vintage/modern. Thank you again for your contributions and providing such in depth information to the community.
Thank you very interesting video, especially as i may be able to buy a watch like yours, and nice to see other brands other than AP,PATEK,and ROLEX. Thank you.
Thank you for the comment. I definitely know what you mean
peace be upon you sir
Excellent video. Again, I learned a lot and as a novice collector appreciate the suggestions. My top three favorites beginning with the most favorite are: VC; IWC; JLC. Looking forward to seeing them on the site! Many thanks!
Thank you for comment. I like your three selections. 😃
Wow! What a collection!
Thanks!
I would choose the Movado one. But I also like the Vacheron Constantin, the IWC and the Zodiac.
Thank you for sharing. The Movado is really to wear. :-)
That was a brilliant video. Thanks. All my favourites ! I like them all.
Haha. So difficult to choose a favourite!
Thank you for sharing your experiences with vintages pieces, very impressive little little details about ownership of your new vintage piece, i had made multiple mistakes owning my first vintage pieces, so i Thank you for taking the time to educate me, now i own several vintage pieces..im also new to your channel, all way from St George Utah, viva watch making, looking forward in the future to own one your vintages pieces, but for now I'll keep watching..until next episode..my friend im focusing on Gruen Curvex watches and many other's..
Thank you for the comment. Gruen Curvex is a beautiful watch. There are many models, so it can be difficult to choose a favourite.
Woah incredible collection, yeah when comes to vintage,I'm right there with all you, knowing the history of this pieces are Important to me, knowing you have a piece on your wrist is super special..I thank for vintage pieces...great content..all way from St George Utah..viva watch making.!! My vintage pieces are right now is a Gruen Curvex, because they are affordable to obtain.... not much value out there, but screams Vintage without breaking the bank...
My favorite of all 10 pieces is the Aquastar and second the Zenith, let me tell you woah mind blowing with all this Vintage pieces, and my last pick would be Universal of Geneve ,now that's incredible piece...? Question do you service other than your own pieces, or do you work with other customers, I have a 1940Ś Britix Chronograph,I took it to my local shop here in my hometown, but a seems to stop working, would you be available to service my watch, would you let me know my friend, thanks for presenting this magnificent iconic pieces well done, until next episode from all away from St George Utah..Viva watch making..!!
Thank you for the comment. Unfortunately, due to my busy schedule I will burnout if I accept repair jobs from people. I only service the watches that I sell or sold on my website.
Do try asking on the Omega forums. I'm sure someone there will refer you to a reliable watchmaker. :-)
All 10 watches are beautiful. Especially the ebel with the dial and the hidden crown. What I always wonder, is it ok to take such old watches with you into humid climate? I can imagine that could damage the watch.
Thank you for the comment. Usually, when the watch is properly serviced, you'll have no issue wearing it in any climate, especially, a piece that carries a case and crown gasket.
@@TimelessHistoryChannel thank you
All 10 pieces are gorgeous, my couple tea, love it ,I would love to own the Zodiac, that's an awesome piece....and the cricket V,love it....I'm so glad to see this watch channel..very cool indeed, right now my vintage pieces is been Gruen Curvex and other models watches from the 1950Ś or so ,looking forward for the next episode, all way from St George Utah..Viva watch making....
Thank you for the comment! When I find a nice Gruen Curvex, I'll make a video about it. :-)
Hey folks! Let me know which piece is your favourite from this video. Thank you for sharing! 0:46 1950s Ebel Automatic 2:33 1962 International Watch Company (IWC) Automatic 4:32 1943 LeCoultre 24Hrs 6:09 1940s Movado Manual Wind 7:38 1938 Tissot Fab Suisse Rectangular 9:17 1940 Vacheron Constantin (VC) 11:02 1950s Vulcain Cricket Calendar Wrist-Alarm 13:20 1950s Wakmann Moonphase Triple Date 15:36 1949 Zenith Bumper Automatic 17:19 1960s Zodiac Seawolf Skindiver
Always appreciate your videos. I've been watching for probably over 5 years now and you've helped me kickstart and avoid a lot of pitfalls when buying vintage watches! Thank you.
Hey man, that's awesome to hear! Thank you for sharing! Your comment is a motivation booster! 😁
great watches and with the exception of the VC should all be in the sub <1000$ range!
This is a great list. I think my favourite was the Zenith, although the vintage Zodiac skin diver is gorgeous.
You have a great channel. I prefer the aged look of vintage watches and you've been a great point of reference for me. Thank you!
I appreciate that!
Thank you so much! I was considering opening mine to see if I could figure out what's going on with it but after watching this.... 😁 You've changed my mind.
haha. Glad I could help!
I have inherited an omega pocket watch it's beautifully but I have no clue of it's value
Try asking on the Omega Forums. There are many specialists there who can help you grade and appraise your watch.
if you know you are wrong about how the program works by now, you should take this down.
I would immediately take it down if they do a better job. Unfortunately, many of my watch buddies are still receiving their watches (after going through this program) with missing parts inside their watches.
do you have an idea the appraisal of 2639 18k approximately? many thanks in good conditions
The price of the watch varies from condition, dial variation, what has been done to the watch, and the source you're buying it from.
@@TimelessHistoryChannel it is my watch inherit from my father. I don't intend to sell next decade. However for insurance or cross border travel I have to have an idea, that Why I ask your help. it's a 18k gold. Btw is different in the back from yours. the gold is complete plain. Beforehand, thank you
Very educational video. Did you post a pdf of that chart? It’s really helpful!
Unfortunately, I did not.
@@TimelessHistoryChannel 😞
Sorry about that. But this video will always be on this channel. :-)
@@TimelessHistoryChannel thank you for your very educational videos! 🙏
I have one of these. Such refined elegance and beauty. It's the pinnacle of my collection. So far.
Thanks for the video. Just got gifted this watch and im in love with it
I have this exact watch. I wear it every day but I cannot change the time on it. I can only start and stop it. How much would it cost to fix this issue and clean the watch up like you did? It was my poppop’s (my hero, who died one year ago). Can I trust a watch shop to fix it up without breaking or stealing parts from it? I’d give up my house before this watch.
Another problem I encountered was with an automatic Omega watch which could not be manually wound. Maybe one of the wheels of the watch movement had been damaged? So a good idea to check manual winding both automatic and non-automatic watches.
my friend i came from heaven. I inherited ck 2639 gold 18k and I was very sad, I could not find anything. the crown was changed, by chance you know how to research for the proper gold one? what would be the box? Thank you beforehand
I have a Prisma, it's almost identical to your V.Constantin. Mine is on a Milanese gold strap; belonged to my grandfather.
At the beginning you listed 10 important things about Pie-Pan, but you omitted the MOST IMPORTANT thing, which is why it is called Pie-Pan, which is named after the Chinese pan look. You DID however explain the dogs leg lugs and the reason they are called that.
Amazing pocket watches! I’m new to pocket watches but i would really be able to get me a 1930’s-1940’s swiss pocket watch. from size 12 to 16 but particularly size 16 i’m unfortunately having a very hard time finding one though.
Why do many brick bracelets have 1507 stamped in buckle not 1040?
That is the clasp reference number. If I remember correctly, different market or year used a different buckle number.
How much was each of these? Did you have to restore any?
I do not have a price. I do service the watch before I wear them. I do not refinish the dial or polish their cases.
nice line up !🙂
I love the gold omega and the silver dial heuer. I have a copper dial ormaeresco with a Landeron movement.
Tôi có 1 chiếc longine vàng khối side 35, cửa sổ lịch ở 12 giờ. Máy L633.5 số máy L1 611 6. serie 35709961. Đồng hồ sản xuất năm nào? Và có giới hạng số lượng không? Mong hồi đáp, cám ơn!
Perfect video at a perfect time. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge. I'm looking at a 1960s Constellation and this video has been very useful. Have a 👍🏼
Thank you for the comment. You should watch a few episodes in the “constellation” playlist. You’ll get to learn more about vintage 1960s Constellation.
I like vintage watches like you. My favourite watch is Omega cal. 613 with a black dial and a red second hand. From your colletion I choose Aquastar and Mido. Thank you for your review.
any idea by about how much % value it would drop if the watch hands are replaced? saw some cushion watch available on ebay but the watch hands doesn't look right (too new) compare to the rest of the watch
If the hands are replaced, it is best to avoid buying. It could be a sign that other parts may have been replaced. A good watchmaker will not replace parts. Depending on the watch, age and hand type, it can affect the value of the watch significantly.
The Arrow hand Seamaster is just beautiful. I've been very lucky with my admittedly small but much loved vintage watch collection. First one i bought was a 1980s Tag Heuer gold inlay divers watch, one owner, one small defect but a very good price. Second one i acquired was a vintage Omega Seamaster deville 14K Tiffany and Co edition in perfect condition. Third one i acquired was a vintage Jaeger lecoultre manual wind 9K dress watch 1960s. Latest is a Rolex Oyster royal precision 1967 with rivet strap in incredible condition. The total for all these was under £5000. 4 incredible watches with beauty, elegance, presence and an incredible history for the price of one Speedmaster. No brainer.
Very nice vintage collection!!! sizes are a little bit small for me to wear... Omega 321 Cal my favorite
It’s the best chrono caliber the brand ever used
Pls prices
Props to you for understanding how misused the term 'grail watches' is. One of my big pet peeves in this collecting world
Enjoyed this interview and video.
Love this video…..
